Boys’ basketball: Alemany-Crespi showdown for first place in Mission League is set for Monday

Alemany and Crespi finished off opponents on Friday night, setting up a showdown for first place in the Mission League on Monday night at Alemany.

Alemany (19-6, 9-1) defeated Loyola, 74-63. Shacquille Dawkins scored 23 points, Earnie Sears 18 and DJ McDonald 14. Crespi (23-2, 9-1) defeated Chaminade, 64-52. Brandon Williams finished with 22 points. Aidan Dolan had 19 points for Chaminade. Harvard-Westlake defeated St. Francis, 84-53. Cassius Stanley and Ali Iken each scored 23 points.

Rancho Mirage improved to 25-0 with a 66-64 win over Twentynine Palms. Daryn Evans had the game-winning basket. Evans and Charles Neal finished with 22 points each. Rancho Mirage clinched at least a share of the DeAnza League title.

In the Baseline League, Chino Hills (24-0) defeated Upland, 99-71. LaMelo Ball scored 24 points, Eli Scott 21 points and LiAngelo Ball 20. Damien defeated Etiwanda, 61-50. Five players scored in double figures for Damien.

In the Del Rey League, Bishop Montgomery (23-1) defeated Cathedral, 81-41. David Singleton scored 22 points, Jordan Schakel 20 and Ethan Thompson 17.

In the Bay League, Redondo defeated Peninsula, 72-50. Wesley Gilbert had 17 points and Leland Green 16. Inglewood defeated Mira Costa, 47-33. Jordan Bell had 18 points.

In opening games of the Nike Extravaganza, JSerra defeated Windward, 83-58. Alec Hickman scored 27 points and Sebastian Much had 24. Jules Bernard scored 28 points and had 16 rebounds for Windward. St. John Bosco defeated Village Christian, 50-47. JJ Watson finished with 19 points. Mater Dei defeated Arizona Shadow Mountain, 79-72. MC Cage had 22 points and Spencer Freedman 19.

South Gate clinched the Eastern League title with a 52-36 win over Jordan. Cameron Ybarra scored 20 points and Jose Velasquez had 18.

In the Western League, Westcheser defeated University, 81-43. Keith Fisher had 16 points and Evan Council 14.

In the Coliseum League, Dorsey stayed unbeaten with a 78-62 win over Crenshaw.

In the Marine League, Narbonne stayed unbeaten with a 74-50 win over Gardena. D’Mauria Jones had 22 points.

In the West Valley League, Taft defeated Granada Hills, 61-40. Brandon Thomas scored 20 points. El Camino Real defeated Cleveland, 79-54. Troy Biglow had 21 points. Birmingham defeated Chatsworth, 77-58. Mark Boland scored 18 points.

In the East Valley League, North Hollywood defeaed Poly, 66-54. Sean Fernandez had 26 points and Daniel Kawashima added 19 points. The Huskies face Grant on Monday at Grant for the league title.

In the Northern League, Lincoln defeated Wilson, 56-47. Jamal Cole had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

In the Foothill League, Hart clinched at least a share of the league title with a 47-40 win over West Ranch. Preston Dominguez led Indians with 10 points. Canyon defeated Valencia, 60-46.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Poly defeated Long Beach Cabrillo, 58-51. Compton was beaten by Long Beach Millikan, 57-51. Poly takes over first place in league.

La Mirada improved to 9-1 in the Suburban League with a 76-35 win over Glenn.

Ayala is 22-2 after an 86-45 win over Glendora. John Edgar had 29 points and Austen Awosika 25 points.

In the Sunset League, Los Alamitos defeated Newport Harbor, 52-45. Eyassu Worku scored 19 points.

In the Golden League, Knight handed Highland its first league loss, 72-71, in double overtime despite 37 points from Deshay Gipson.

Thomas Frank had 20 points in St. Bonaventure’s 54-42 win over Nordhoff. St. Bonaventure is 9-0 in league.

In the Marmonte League, Thousand Oaks defeated Westlake, 65-63, in overtime. Calabasas defeated Newbury Park, 69-48. AJ Eckstein had 21 points, including five threes. Max Heidegger scored 40 points in Oaks Christian’s 76-66 win over Agoura.

Simi Valley defeated Moorpark, 58=45. Kaden Young had 11 points and eight rebounds. Camarillo defeated Royal, 69-60.

Zachary Smalley had 23 points in Maranatha’s 59-52 win over Valley Christian. St. Anthony defeated La Salle, 102-95, in overtime. Dante Williams scored 39 points.

Flintridge Prep defeated McAuliffe, 78-71, in overtime. Andrew Tsangeos had 24 points. Rodney Moore scored 36 points for McAuliffe.

Lywood defeated Dominguez, 76-75, in overtime despite 37 points from sophomore Wayne Arnold.

Esperanza clinched at least a share of the Crestview League title with a 64-57 win over Villa Park. Kezie Okpaia had 24 points.

Jonah Mathews had 34 points in Santa Monica’s 75-59 win over Culver City.
