Danny McBride gets some class in new HBO comedy ‘Vice Principals’

Danny McBride is no longer “Eastbound and Down.” He’s going back to school.

The actor-comedian who starred in the HBO comedy about irrepressible former major league pitcher Kenny Powers is returning to the premium network in the new series, “Vice Prinicipals.”

The comedy, which is slated for 18 episodes, is about a high school “and the people who almost run it, the vice principals.” The series is created by McBride and Jody Hill, who were also the creators of “Eastbound and Down.” That series ran for four seasons and concluded last year.

“Danny McBride and Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of,” said Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming. “The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.”
