The political fight for Florida continued this afternoon on the ground, on the airwaves -- and in the air. (Video below.)

The Times’ Mark Z. Barabak reports from the scene minutes ago at Miami’s downtown waterfront Bicentennial Park that as the crowd of thousands assembled and Barack Obama proceeded to the event site, an airplane began circling overhead.

It was towing a banner that said: ‘Barack Repudiate Ayers. Michelle Repudiate Dohrn.’

Ayers is, of course, the co-founder of the violent Weather Underground anti-Vietnam war group from the ‘60s, now an education professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and described by Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley and Obama aides as a friend of Obama’s.

Dohrn is Bernadette Dohrn, Ayers’ wife and another Weather Underground member, who also lives in Obama’s South Side neighborhood.

As Michelle Obama warmed up the crowd and introduced her husband, the plane circled slowly overhead.

But by the time the Illinois senator took the microphone, it had flown off to fight another day somewhere else. For a video on the Sunshine State’s early voting, already underway, click on the Read more line below.
