TV ratings: ‘Big Bang Theory’ boosts CBS to top; NBC wins key demo

CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” won Monday night’s TV ratings, averaging 16 million viewers.

Though down 13% from last week’s 8 p.m. premiere, the episode was still No. 1, with a rating of 4.7 in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic, according to Nielsen ratings.

With a lead-in from a “Big Bang Theory” rerun, CBS’ “Scorpion” earned a rating of 3.0 in the key demo, down 6% from last week’s debut. The show was the second most watched of the night, averaging 13.2 million viewers.

In its new timeslot, CBS’ season premiere of “NCIS: Los Angeles” averaged 9.4 million viewers and earned a rating of 1.9 in the key demo.

The network, which earned a rating of 2.9 in the key demo, nabbed the No. 1 spot overall, with about 12.3 million viewers.

But with help from “The Voice” and “The Blacklist,” NBC won over the key demo with a rating of 3.5.

“The Voice” stayed even with last week’s premiere and was first in the key demo with a rating of 3.9. It was third-most-watched program of the night, with 12.7 million viewers.

However, “The Blacklist” was down 18% from last week’s premiere, with a rating of 2.8 in the key demo. It tied with Fox’s “Gotham” for fifth most viewed among the key demo.

“Gotham” retained 89% of its premiere audience and averaged 7.3 million viewers.

Also on Fox, “Sleepy Hollow” rounded out the top-10-most-watched programs of the night, with 5.1 million viewers. It earned a rating of 1.7 in the key demo.

Fox was third in the key demo, with a rating of 2.3.

Meanwhile, the premiere of “Castle” on ABC was up 9% from last season’s premiere, with a rating of 2.4 in the key demo. About 11.2 million people tuned in to the show.

“Dancing with the Stars” earned a rating of 1.9 in the key demo, down about 14% from last week. It averaged 12.7 million viewers.

However, due to local NFL preemptions in Boston and Kansas City, ratings for ABC are inflated.
