MPAA’s Chris Dodd earned $3.3 million in 2012
It was a rough year for the Motion Picture Assn. of America in 2012, but not for its chief executive.
Even as Hollywood’s chief lobbying group saw its losses widen in 2012, MPAA Chairman and former U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd’s compensation totaled $3.3 million, according to a filing.
His pay rate effectively remained unchanged from the prior year, when he received $2.4 million because he only worked nine months.
Dodd’s pay has dwarfed that of his predecessors. Former MPAA Chairman Dan Glickman was paid $1.1 million in 2010, tax records show.

The MPAA reported a $1.7-million deficit in 2012, citing higher expenses on lobbying, donations and conducting copyright infringement investigations.
The association, which mounted an ill-fated campaign to promote anti-piracy legislation in Washington, donated $475,000 to the Center for Copyright Information, $600,000 to the Copyright Alliance and $100,000 each to the Democratic and Republic governors associations.
MPAA’s total revenue was $68.1 million in 2012, up from $60.8 million in 2011, according to the filing.
An MPAA spokeswoman declined to comment on Dodd’s pay or the group’s financials.
