TV ratings: CBS’ ‘Big Brother’ wins, Univision attracts key demo

Competition may be tough on CBS’ “Big Brother” but the show stayed strong in its ratings on Thursday night, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

With about 6 million viewers and a rating of 2.1 in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic, the privacy-deprivation reality show topped the ratings, elevating CBS to first in total viewership.

Univision, however, was the No. 1 network in the key demo with a rating of 1.7, with its youth-focused awards show “Premios Juventud.” The Spanish-language channel drew roughly 4 million viewers overall for the gala.

The 11th annual awards show, broadcast from Florida, featured big-name stars such as Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Romeo Santos and Juanes.

On Fox, “Gang Related” increased its viewership by 17% from last week to an average 2.7 million viewers. It was also up 29% in the key demo with a rating of 0.9.

“Hell’s Kitchen,” which averaged 4.9 million viewers total, was up 13% from last week in the key demo with a rating of 1.7.

ABC, which was No. 2-most viewed network of the night overall behind CBS, averaged 4.7 million viewers. “Black Box” had a rating of 0.6, a 14% decrease from last week, tying with its lowest rating to date. “Rookie Blue” and “NY Med” both had a rating of 0.9, on par with last week.
