Earthquake: 3.7 quake strikes near San Jacinto, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Tuesday evening at San Jacinto, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:38 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 8.1 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was three miles from Hemet, Calif., and four miles from Valle Vista, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
