Man killed, another wounded in deputy-involved shooting in Compton
One man was killed and another injured Tuesday during a deputy-involved shooting in Compton, authorities said.
Investigators released few details about the shooting, which occurred about 9:50 p.m. on North Poinsettia Avenue and East Palmer Street as deputies initiated a traffic stop, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“We know at least one of the suspects was armed,” Sheriff’s Deputy Don Walker told KTLA-TV.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
Neither of the men shot by deputies was immediately identified.
Nine people have died as a result of officer-involved shootings in Compton since 2007, according to The Times Homicide Report.
