L.A. weather: Gusty winds prompt warnings for high-profile vehicles

Share

Gusty winds Thursday and Friday could pose a hazard for high-profile vehicles, such as big rigs and RVs, as they traverse the Grapevine and other mountain areas, weather forecasters say.

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are expected through Thursday evening for mountains in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, while gusts of up to 45 mph could hit over the same period in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys, the National Weather Service warned.

Gusty winds are also expected in the Santa Barbara County mountains and south coast areas.

A wind advisory for the impacted areas is in effect until 9 a.m. Friday.

The winds also prompted the National Weather Service to issue a warning for small ocean-faring craft off the Santa Barbara coastline.

Meanwhile, temperatures under clear skies will remain in the mid-60s to lower 70s across the L.A. region through the weekend, after which a slight warming trend will take hold, pushing daytime highs to near 80 degrees in some area, the weather service said.
