Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near San Simeon, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Monday afternoon eight miles from San Simeon, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:58 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.9 mile.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 25 miles from Morro Bay, Calif., 27 miles from Los Osos, Calif., 32 miles from Paso Robles, Calif., and 209 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
