Man who allegedly assaulted girlfriend, abducted child is arrested

A Palmdale man who authorities said abducted his 3-month-old child after a violent confrontation with his girlfriend was arrested early Saturday in Bakersfield.

Ellsworth Jerome Young, 28, was taken into custody about 2:30 a.m. by Bakersfield police, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His child was found unharmed.

Young allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face during a confrontation about 11:40 a.m. Friday, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The woman ran into a nearby business to escape, leaving their child in the car.

Young then drove off with the toddler, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Young allegedly forced his girlfriend to perform sex acts and was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, according to an email alert issued by the LASD.
