Los Angeles police and county sheriff’s officials are investigating shootings that wounded two motorcyclists riding on the 60 Freeway.

One victim, a 39-year-old man, was shot six times in the back while riding on the freeway at Lorena Street at 11:40 p.m. Friday, said Sgt. Michael Morisseau of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division.

The man was transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, Morisseau said. He had no description of the suspect or information on the circumstances of the shooting.

The second shooting was reported around midnight on the 60 just east of the 710 Freeway, said Sgt. Renteria of the East Los Angeles sheriff’s station. That victim, described only as an adult male, was also riding a motorcycle and was shot in the arm, he said.

The victim was transported to LAC-USC, where he was in stable condition, Renteria said.

He had no further information on the incident or whether the two shootings were related.
