An employee in the office of Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard C. Parks has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in San Bernardino County, according to a media report.

The woman was arrested after deputies served a search warrant on the home she shares with her husband, who was implicated in the robbery of a smoke shop in Hesperia along with another man, according to a report by KABC-TV (Channel 7).

A sheriff’s spokesperson on duty Friday evening was unable to confirm the report for The Times.

Bernard Parks Jr., chief of staff for his father, said he was told by law enforcement authorities that an employee in the councilman’s office had been arrested in connection with a robbery.

He described the worker as a low-level administrative assistant whose duties included filing and answering the telephone.

Parks said the woman has worked in the councilman’s City Hall office since 2006, first as a part-time employee, then as a full-time staffer beginning in 2010.

He declined further comment, citing personnel issues.
