Private L.A. schoolteacher arrested on sexual assault charges

A former teacher at a Los Angeles all-girls school was arrested Wednesday and accused of sexually assaulting one of her students between 2005 and 2007.

Elizabeth “Beth” Brewer, 39, has been charged with several felony charges by the Los Angeles District Attorney, according to a Culver City Police Department news release.

Brewer was a teacher at the private, Catholic high school Notre Dame Academy. The alleged victim is believed to have been one of Brewer’s students while she taught there.

The teacher left in 2006 for unknown reasons after six years of service, according to a source with knowledge of the case who did not want to be identified.

After working at the high school, Brewer got a job as a course instructor and research analyst at UCLA before joining the Loyola Marymount University School of Education as adjunct faculty in 2007.

According to the source, Brewer was fired by Loyola in 2013 after complaints were made about her past relationships with students.

Brewer is a resident of Culver City with her domestic partner.
