Vehicles torched at BMW dealership in Santa Monica; man arrested
Santa Monica police have arrested a man on suspicion of setting several vehicles ablaze at a BMW dealership.
The fires, which destroyed about five vehicles, was reported at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday at the dealership at 1127 Santa Monica Blvd., according to police Sgt. Rudy Camarena.
Officers were able to locate the alleged arsonist a few hours later with the help of witnesses who reported seeing him set the fires.
One of them, Eliza McMillan, told KNBC-TV Channel 4 that she saw a man pouring a fluid on the cars before setting them on fire, possibly with a Molotov cocktail.
A representative of the dealership could not immediately be reached for comment.
