Two men face murder charges and other felonies in connection with what police say was a gang-related killing in Long Beach this year.

Los Angeles county prosecutors have charged Ricardo Gonzalez, 19, and Carlos Alexis Escalante, 18, with murder, five counts of attempted murder with weapons and gang enhancements and possession of drugs with intent to distribute after they were arrested last week while driving in Long Beach.

Police said the pair were behind the May 26 shooting death of Enrique Lopez outside a home in the 2800 block of East 65th Street and the attempted slaying of a man with Lopez.

Police said that Lopez and the other man were standing outside a home when a vehicle approached and a passenger fired multiple rounds.

In addition, police say that Gonzalez and Escalante are connected to an Oct. 23 shooting on Atlantic Avenue in North Long Beach. They are being held in County Jail.
