Dental assistant accused of sexually assaulting 8-year-old patient
A dental assistant is to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of assaulting an 8-year-old boy at a Garden Grove dental office.
Luis David Hidalgovillalta, 20, of Anaheim was charged Tuesday with one felony count of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14, the Orange County district attorney’s office said in a statement.
Hidalgovillalta is accused of assaulting the boy Aug. 4. during an appointment at a Garden Grove dental facility.
The boy’s parents reported the suspected sexual assault to a staff member, who contacted police, prosecutors said.
Hidalgovillalta faces a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration if convicted.
He is currently free on $100,000 bail.
