Earthquake: Magnitude 3.3 quake strikes near San Simeon and Hearst Castle

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Saturday morning eight miles from San Simeon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:28 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter in the Santa Lucia Mountains east of Hearst Castle was 21 miles from Paso Robles, 26 miles from Atascadero, and 26 miles from Morro Bay.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
