Pedestrian fatally struck in Koreatown, driver flees

An investigation is underway in Koreatown, where a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a pickup truck early Monday.

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a pickup truck early Monday in Koreatown, police said.

The pedestrian was struck on the northeast corner of Beverly Boulevard and Normandie Avenue about 6:40 a.m., Los Angeles police Sgt. Craig Brown said.

Two other victims were critically injured and taken to a hospital, according to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The truck had been involved in a two-car collision and hopped the curb, hitting the pedestrians before crashing into a strip-mall signage pole, Main said.

By the time paramedics and police arrived 10 minutes later, the man driving the pickup truck had fled on foot.

LAPD’s Central Traffic Division said they have put out an alert with the driver’s description based on witness reports but have not yet released it to the public.

No other information about the victims or driver was immediately available.
