Shelly Sterling calls 911 about burglar at house, but V. Stiviano was invited

Police were called to Donald Sterling’s Beverly Hills home to investigate a possible burglary in progress Wednesday. Police responding to the 911 call -- made by Shelly Sterling -- found no burglar. But they did find V. Stiviano.

It was a fresh jolt of Sterling drama that came months after Shelly Sterling won a court battle against husband Donald to sell off the Clippers franchise.

It turned out that Stiviano -- the woman whose recordings of Sterling’s racist remarks led to his downfall -- had been invited to the home by Donald Sterling, police said. Officers took a report and left shortly after arriving, said Lt. Lincoln Hoshino.

Sterling’s wife apparently called 911 after receiving secondhand information, he added.

The downfall of Donald Sterling came after Stiviano released now-infamous tape recordings in which he asks her not to bring African Americans to basketball games, after seeing her in an Instagram photograph posing with former Lakers star Magic Johnson.

Four days later, Sterling was fined $2.5 million and banned for life from the NBA.
