A felon charged with shooting at two Los Angles police officers and another man pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Cliff Gershowitz, 50, was accused of shooting the man during a Feb. 10 argument in Reseda, prosecutors said. The victim was wounded in the arm and leg.

When Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the scene, they began chasing Gershowitz as he ran away, according to authorities.

Prosecutors said Gershowitz opened fire on police, injuring an officer who was struck in the arm. Police officials later determined that the officer had been injured by shrapnel. No other officers were injured.

Prosecutors said Gershowitz was convicted in 2005 of assault on a peace officer. He pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and one count of attempted murder, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.

Officials with the district attorney’s office said Gershowitz will be sentenced May 7 to 49 years and four months in state prison.
