Suspect in road-rage shooting of pregnant woman arrested after 2-year hunt
After a two-year manhunt, a suspected gang member wanted in the road-rage shooting of a pregnant woman is in custody.
Authorities arrested Gabriel Gutierrez, 32, on Friday near the Palm Springs airport on a tip from the Cathedral City police, according to the Palm Springs police. He was apprehended less than a mile from the location of the May 2012 car-to-car shooting that left a pregnant passenger with a gunshot wound to the face, the police said.
Detectives had been looking for Gutierrez since July 2012, even offering a $1 million reward. He was carrying a loaded gun when he was arrested, police said. Gutierrez, who faces 11 felony charges, including attempted murder, is being held at the Indio jail on $1 million bond.
The victim survived her injuries.
