Fire destroys two homes in Koreatown; no injuries reported
Los Angeles firefighters knocked down a blaze Friday afternoon that engulfed two structures and damaged two more in Koreatown around noon.
The fire erupted in a two-story Craftsman home in the 100 block of South Ardmore Avenue. The fire had already spread to a second home when firefighters arrived about 11:50 a.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
No injuries were reported.
Two houses were heavily damaged and two others sustained moderate to minor damage, Stewart said in a release. The Red Cross will provide assistance to 19 residents displaced by the fire.
Firefighters also saved a dog named Brownie from a yard after the fire was knocked down about 12:30 p.m.

The caller who reported the fire said an explosion was heard, Stewart said. Arson investigators are on the scene, she said.
As of 12:30 p.m., there were 92 firefighters working to douse the flames as smoke poured into the air along the residential street.
