Three men are in custody in connection with the shooting death of woman in her 20s outside a bowling alley in Torrance early Saturday, police said.

Torrance police were on patrol in the 22500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard shortly after midnight Friday when officers spotted a car speeding out of the parking lot of Gable House Bowl, Sgt. Paul Kranke said.

Police pulled the car over and were questioning the three men inside when a second car sped out of the same parking lot and collided with another vehicle, Kranke said.

The unidentified female victim, who had been shot at least once in the head, was inside the second car. “Her friends were rushing her to the hospital,” Kranke said.

Paramedics arrived and took the woman to a local hospital, where she later died, he said.

The three men were arrested for outstanding warrants, Kranke said. They are all considered persons of interest in the fatal shooting. Authorities have not identified the victim or the men arrested.

Authorities are looking at surveillance tapes and interviewing witnesses to help determine what prompted the shooting and who was involved, Kranke said.
