Los Angeles police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a series of shootings in a Westside neighborhood this week that left one man dead and four injured.

James Pickens of Inglewood was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, police said.

The initial shooting occurred about 3 p.m. Thursday at Woodbine Park in the 10300 block of Woodbine Street, police said.

Officers arriving at the scene found three men with multiple gunshot wounds near the park.

Paramedics pronounced one man dead at the scene. Police have identified him as Justin Aguilar, 27.

About 20 minutes later, a second shooting occurred at Overland Avenue and National Boulevard. Officers found two men with gunshot wounds nearby. The men sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

It is still unclear if there was more than one suspect involved in the incident, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing.
