Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Alturas

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Friday morning 45 miles from Alturas, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:47 a.m. PDT near the surface.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 97 miles from Susanville.

In the last 10 days, there have been five earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
