Officials have identified one of three victims who were fatally shot in Pasadena on Saturday in what police described as a landlord-tenant dispute.

Los Angeles County coroner’s officials said Maria Teresa Aguiar, 59, was one of the three killed in the rampage. Two men who were also killed have not yet been identified. Another man and woman were injured.

The alleged shooter, John Izael Smith, 44, was arrested after a standoff with police and was in jail with bail set at $1 million.

The rampage began about 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Summit Avenue. Police said the gunman chased two people down the street, fatally shooting one and wounding the other. A neighbor, whom police called a “good Samaritan,” also was shot and died in a driveway

Smith allegedly opened fire on police after shooting Aguiar and the other civilian victims and barricaded himself in a home before being persuaded to surrender.

Police said Smith used a semiautomatic rifle in the shootings. They recovered a rifle and two handguns from the scene.
