One man was fatally stabbed and four others injured in a fight Saturday night at a house party in Carson, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said.

The dead man, whose name was not released, succumbed to his wounds shortly before midnight, several blocks from where the stabbing occurred at the house in the 18600 block of Town Avenue, officials said.

He and several others involved in the fight left the scene in a vehicle but made it only as far as East 184th Street and Avalon Boulevard before pulling over, authorities said. Paramedics could not revive the victim and the four other men were taken to a hospital “for various injuries,” Deputy Crystal Hernandez said in a prepared statement.

“Detectives are still interviewing these men, and other witnesses, to determine who started the fight and how it escalated to an assault that ultimately claimed the life of the victim,” according to the statement.

The investigation continued Sunday morning, as Sheriff’s deputies closed off sections of Avalon Boulevard and East 184th Street to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
