Mom sought in abduction of 4-year-old she had abandoned, police say

Police are looking for a mother who they say abducted her 4-year-old son from his foster parent’s home in Pomona after she threatened to hurt him if he wasn’t handed over.

Juana Maria Corrigan, 21, went to the foster mother’s home in the 700 block of East 3rd Street at about 5 p.m. Tuesday and claimed that his social worker had given her permission to take him, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The foster mother became suspicious, however, and refused to allow Corrigan to take her son, Joshua Saul Corrigan, police said. But after Juana Corrigan allegedly threatened to hurt the boy unless her demands were met, the foster mother relented, they said.

Their whereabouts are not known at this time.

Juana Corrigan lost her parental rights last year when police said she abandoned her son and fled to Mexico.

Soon after, authorities said, a family member began caring for the boy.

Juana Corrigan was reportedly evicted June 1 from her home in San Ysidro. She is described as standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 140 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, police said.

Police said the boy was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, white shorts and tan Timberland boots. He is 3-foot-8, weighs 45 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.
