Meet LL Cool J and his jewelry designer wife Simone Smith at Macy’s
Actor/rapper LL Cool J will be the arm candy when his wife, jewelry designer Simone Smith, shows her collection, SIS by Simone I. Smith, at Macy’s in downtown L.A. on Saturday.
The first 200 customers to make a purchase from the collection will get to have a photo taken with the couple, and $1 from each sale during the trunk show will go to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The show is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Macy’s is at 750 W. 7th St.

Helmut Lang has opened its U.S. flagship store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.
The 7,000-square-foot space was designed in collaboration with Standard Architects to be spare and modern. The space includes silk carpets, custom venetian plaster finishes, Midcentury Modern furniture and stainless-steel millwork. David Laforga designed a garden, and Mark Hagen created a custom sculpture for the space.
The store, which carries women’s ready-to-wear and fragrance, is at 8808 Melrose Ave. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Atelier 7918 in Newport Beach is throwing a truly grand grand opening featuring three events benefiting three charities over three days. Things are set to kick off with a cocktail party from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 19, when 20% of the full day’s sales will go to benefit Project Hope Alliance. That’s to be followed by an afternoon tea from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 (with CHOC Children’s Foundation the day’s beneficiary) and a brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22 (Crystal Cove Alliance). Atelier 7918, which carries a variety of designer labels, is in the Crystal Cove shopping center at 7918 East Coast Highway. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Ralph Lauren has opened a new, 5,700-square-foot store at South Coast Plaza. The store carries Lauren men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and footwear with “an emphasis on the brand’s most elegant and exquisite items,” according to a news release. There’s also a collection of vintage and fine jewelry selected for the location and clientele. The store is on first level of the Jewel Court section of the mall at 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.
YogaSmoga has opened at Malibu Country Mart, 3835 Cross Creek Road, Malibu. The store, which is at 3900 Cross Creek, carries the brand’s full line of men’s and women’s workout apparel for yoga, running, spin and more.
