Baseball: Ty Moore taken on third day of draft by Yankees

Forty rounds of baseball’s amateur draft have been completed, and there were some notable players taken on the final day.

In the 17th round, outfielder Kevin Maxey of Long Beach Poly was taken by the Dodgers and pitcher David Hill of El Modena went to the Phillies.

Santa Ana Mater Dei standout Ty Moore was drafted in the 25th round by the Yankees.

Riverside North shortstop Gabrial Franca was chosen by the Mariners in the 22nd round. Bonita pitcher Justin Garza went to the Indians in the 26th round. Ocean View outfielder Tim Robinson was taken by the Twins in the 31st round.

Catcher Darrell Miller of Servite was chosen by the Phillies in the 34th round. Newbury Park shortstop Nick Lovullo went to the Blue Jays in the 38th round. His father, Torey, is a coach for the Blue Jays.

In the 40th round, Beckman pitcher James Kaprielian was taken by the Mariners. St. Francis infielder David Olmedo-Barrera went to the Athletics.
