Kristin Davis spills: Who dies in 'Sex and the City' and why New York lost to London (?)
The Dish Rag chatted with Kristin Davis in New York this week and, naturally, the subject of "Sex and the City: The Movie" just happened to come up.
Here's what she says about the nasty death-in-the-city rumors and about why on Earth the quintessential New York movie is premiering in London on Sunday. (Blasphemy, I say!)
DR: What do you think of the rumors of someone dying in the film? Is it true and how did it get started?
KD: Those rumors are interesting. I know why the one started. [Our spies say that during filming Chris Noth told reporters someone dies just to confuse them!] Like, I mean, and I just tell people that I don’t die in the movie. I just think that’s weird. Like why would we get back together and kill one of the four of us? Why? Why? I don’t even want to kill any of the guys! I don’t get it, really. We’re a comedy. A romantic comedy, but you know what I’m saying. I don’t think we need, you know, death.
DR: And some people say you die in childbirth?
KD: I know. It’s just a bad, bad, bad rumor. It's an upsetting rumor that Michael would be like, "Yes, we’re going to work for four years to get the movie made and then Charlotte, who has wanted to have a baby her whole entire life, is going to die in childbirth." Like, he’s not that sadistic, you know? And I’m really glad he’s not. He’s a little bit ... but he’s not that mean. I mean, that would be bad. And I would have to say no to that because my, my, I can’t let my Charlotte fans down, and I would never want to say no — obviously, I love our movie — but to that, I would draw the line.
DR: And how about the London-before-New York premiere. What's up with that?
KD: Everyone is upset about it and I just don’t understand why. You know, it’s the first premiere, and you can say the world premiere, that is technically true. But it’s the first of a few premieres and the biggest one will be here at Radio City Music Hall. So there was this whole thing like they’re snubbing New York or something, and I was like no, no, no, no, no. It’s saving the best for last. No offense to London. I mean, we’ve got a good little, like, a mini tour, because we are opening simultaneously. You know how they used to open here and there and here and there in different times? Now we don’t do that anymore. So, like, now you go around, like "Iron Man" just did. They went to Berlin and they went to Rome, I think. We're doing a similar version of that, but London is the first one.

I hate to say this? However...I loved Sex and the City...I do think the movie will not succeed.......We have really moved on unless? It really has something unique with a twist....I believe the producers just pushed their luck.....Some things have a window of success....This has overstayed its welcome...The ending of the series was terrrific....I would have left it at that.....Lets see what the numbers are....

YAWN! The only thing that could save this movie is killing off all of the characters!

Whoever said the movie will not succeed is very pessimistic. Just because they probably wont see the movie doesnt mean it will not succeed. I think it's going to be FABULOUS!
