Taylor Swift inspires Jimmy Kimmel to throw out his music booker

Taylor Swift reignited a grudge Jimmy Kimmel has held for nearly 10 years: missing out on being the person who introduced the crossover star to the masses.

Swift, 24, stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote her upcoming first pop album “1989,” which officially drops Monday but leaked online Friday, when the host recalled what happened to her the first time she tried to appear as a musical guest on the show. She was 14 at the time, still a fresh face writing country songs about Tim McGraw.

The now-megastar had auditioned for musical booker Scott Igoe, but, as Kimmel tells it, Igoe sent her packing.

“By the way, the guy who threw you out of our show -- he said, ‘No. you may not play a song for me, get out of our building’ -- is standing right there. His name is Scott Igoe.”

Igoe appeared nearby with Kimmel’s sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez and corroborated that “it happened, but not exactly” how Kimmel recounted it.

“There was no pointing of the finger,” Igoe said.

“OK, so I remember it vaguely,” Swift chimed in. “But looking back, all’s well that ends well because I think of it like this: I think you probably would have gotten in more trouble with Jimmy had he wandered out and been like, ‘Why is there this random 14-year-old tiny child sitting here with a guitar case.’ What’s happeing here?”

“No, no, you don’t know Jimmy that well,” Kimmel quipped. “Jimmy is very kind to children. Even if children are in an area where alcohol is being served.... Well, I’m glad you don’t hold a grudge, but I’ll tell you something. I do hold a grudge. Guillermo, grab some of the security guys, I want Scott thrown out of the building right now.

“I know it seems like a joke and Scott probably now is thinking this is a joke but I’m actually now having him thrown out of the building,” he said, with Swift disapproving of his hijinks.

The “Shake It Off” singer and Kimmel shut down Hollywood Boulevard for an outdoor concert following the appearance. There she sang her latest singles, including “Out of the Woods,” in front of a crowd of nearly 15,000 people, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
