Elisabeth Hasselbeck is giving up her spot on the curvy couch at “Fox & Friends.”

A co-host of the Fox News Channel morning program since September 2013, Hasselbeck announced Monday that she is putting her TV career on hold to spend more time raising her children. She will depart Fox News Channel at the end of this year.

“Elisabeth and I discussed this at length over several weeks, and while I would love for her to continue here, I respect her incredibly difficult, yet deeply personal decision,” Fox News Channel Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement. “She has been a great addition to the Fox & Friends franchise.”

Hasselbeck said Ailes “created the best environment a woman and a mother could ask for” at Fox.

Hasselbeck, 38, replaced Gretchen Carlson on “Fox & Friends” after nearly 10 years as the sole conservative voice on the ABC daytime program “The View.” The wife of retired NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, she has two sons and a daughter all under age 10.

Various fill-in co-hosts will join “Fox & Friends” regulars Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade until FNC names a permanent replacement for Hasselbeck.

“Fox & Friends” is the top rated morning news program in basic cable among viewers and the 25 to 54 age group sought by advertisers.
