Starz releases first trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Girlfriend Experience’
Riley Keough stars in the upcoming Starz series “The Girlfriend Experience.”
TV fans are getting their first glimpse of Steven Soderbergh’s latest undertaking, as Starz releases a trailer for “The Girlfriend Experience,” inspired by Soderbergh’s 2009 film of the same name.
The series explores what happens when a second-year law student, Christine Reade (Riley Keough), begins moonlighting in the world of transactional relationships, providing the finest emotional and physical intimacy that money can buy.

Unlike with Cinemax’s “The Knick,” Soderbergh is only serving as an executive producer on “The Girlfriend Experience,” alongside Philip Fleishman, Gary Marcus, Jeff Cuban, and creators Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz. Kerrigan and Seimetz are also responsible for writing and directing all 13 episodes of the show’s first season.
The trailer is stylish and sexy, and only mildly reminiscent of a certain colorful book in which a virginal college student goes on a wild journey to unlock her sexual truth.
“The Girlfriend Experience” is scheduled to debut on Starz in 2016.
