CBS restarts Wednesday comedy block after five-year hiatus

CBS is going to give another try to this Wednesday comedy thing.

Starting Jan. 6, “2 Broke Girls” and season 6 of “Mike & Molly” will kick off Wednesday nights, followed by the dramas “Criminal Minds” and “Code Black.”

However, the change will be short-lived. On Feb. 17, “Survivor” will return to the 8 p.m. time slot for its 32nd season. The network revealed the scheduling moves in a media release Monday.

CBS has experimented with Wednesday comedy in the past, most recently during the 2009-2010 season, when “The New Adventures of Old Christine” started the night.

The network has also announced a Jan. 7 launch for “Angel from Hell,” the comedy with Jane Lynch as a troublesome guardian angel. That show will land in the 9:30 p.m. slot, between “Mom” and the mystery “Elementary.”
