PJ Harvey adds second L.A. performance on Friday for her new U.S. tour

Singer and songwriter PJ Harvey has added a second show to her tour stop in Los Angeles with a performance Friday at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood along with her Thursday show date at the Shrine Expo Hall, which quickly sold out.

Tickets are on sale now for the added show, which extends her run of U.S. performances that recently included two shows in New York City.

Harvey’s new album, “The Hope Six Demolition Project,” is a searing set of portraits of American urban malaise.

“Hope Six” was controversial for what some saw as too-bleak depictions of places like the Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Anacostia. But the English singer-songwriter’s voice has never sounded better, and her hot-blooded rock arrangements harken back to the best of her early career.

In describing “The Wheel,” the first single released earlier this year from “The Hope Six Demolition Project,” Times pop music writer Randall Roberts said it “rolls with a garage punk momentum” and “further reveals an artist focused on the politics of the disappeared.”
