HBO releases new trailer for music series ‘Vinyl’
HBO has released a new trailer for “Vinyl”, its much-anticipated series on the ‘70s music scene. The series is the latest effort from “Boardwalk Empire” creator and “The Sopranos” executive producer Terence Winter. Set in New York, “Vinyl” explores the life and times of record label president Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale) as he struggles with being a rich and powerful white guy.
Thankfully, HBO has the best in the business on board “Vinyl” particularly when it comes to managing stories about powerful, but pained dudes. Along with Winter, the show’s executive producers include Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese. Scorsese, for whom Winter previously scripted “Wolf of Wall Street” is also directing the pilot episode. Scorsese and Jagger previously worked together on the 2006 documentary “Shine A Light.”
Along with Cannavale, “Vinyl” will star Olivia Wilde and Jagger’s son, James. Check out the trailer, if only to see more shots of the show’s live performances and savvy utilization of The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog”. “Vinyl” is scheduled to debut in January 2016. Its first season will consist of 10 episodes.
