Skrillex and Rick Ross deliver an IMAX-sized rap cut for the ‘Suicide Squad’ soundtrack

Rick Ross has the largest single-family home in Georgia, and now he’s got a new single with Skrillex that’s big enough to fill every last room of it.

The two collaborated on the new single “Purple Lamborghini,” a centerpiece of the upcoming “Suicide Squad” soundtrack released today via Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.  The soundtrack looks to be a rowdy one, with a new single from Eminem, a cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody” from Panic! At the Disco and a massive collaboration between Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and Imagine Dragons with Ty Dolla $ign, Logic and X Ambassadors.

Still, it’ll be hard to best “Purple Lamborghini” for pure action-flick adrenaline. Skrillex’s production knocks the doors in with brassy, synthetic rap horns, and Ross is triumphantly jovial as he riffs on his classic topics — waving guns, selling coke, winning Grammys — with as many “Suicide Squad” references as he can work in.

Then, a minute in, the tune veers back to Skrillex territory, with jittery dubstep bass hits and a digitally chopped-up Ross. It’s suddenly a lot more disorienting and even bigger fun. Skrillex’s strains of dubstep are a favorite sound for movie trailers these days, and for good reason — his mind-frying bass work feels like the apocalypse is upon us, and the only thing to do is to party while it all burns. And the gruff, boisterous Ross is just the voice you want leading the charge.

Skrillex has proven he can do sleek and tasteful pop — his Justin Bieber collaborations single-handedly restarted Bieber’s career. Now he’s proven that he can take a straight-ahead rap track, turn it inside out and make it IMAX-sized.

An upcoming music video for “Lamborghini” will reportedly feature Jared Leto’s Joker, but it’s hard to imagine how much bigger, brasher and more deliciously menacing this song can get.
