You know the lyric.

“It’s been seven hours and 13 days,” Prince sings to begin his ballad “Nothing Compares 2 U,” describing the amount of time that’s passed “since you took your love away.”

Now a radio station in the legendary singer’s hometown is planning to use the song to mark a different occasion.

On Wednesday afternoon, Minneapolis-based KCMP-FM, known as the Current, will play “Nothing Compares 2 U” at 5:07 p.m. Central time — seven hours and 13 days after Prince was found dead in his Paisley Park studio complex on April 21. (Sinéad O’Connor changed the line in her hit 1990 cover of the song to “seven hours and 15 days.”)

On its website, the Current said other stations across the country had agreed to take part in the tribute, including KEXP in Seattle and WFUV in New York.

Several stations in Los Angeles — among them KCRW-FM (89.9); KROQ-FM (106.7); KCSN-FM (88.5) and KTWV-FM (94.7), known as the Wave — told The Times they’ll participate as well, at 3:07 p.m. Pacific time.
