Mohawk of the sea

For Justin Woolley, every neighborhood in Los Angeles is a different discovery. He’ll wander any given neighborhood for hours at a time -- getting to know its people and landscape through his photography.

Last month, he ventured to Venice with the goal of capturing the ocean blues. From atop the pier, he snapped this photo of a single wave.

“I also love how this scene could potentially be anywhere on the planet, given it is very minimal and simply a wave in the vast ocean,” he said.

Woolley made the image using a Canon 60D with a 20mm f/2.8 lens on Feb. 15.
