Earthquake: 3.2 quake strikes near Avalon, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening 12 miles from Avalon, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:12 p.m. PDT at a depth of zero miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 38 miles from Newport Beach, 39 miles from Huntington Beach and 39 miles from San Pedro.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
