Three keys to the Ducks beating the Jets, 2-1, in Game 2

The Anaheim Ducks won their second consecutive game of the Stanley Cup first-round playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night at the Honda Center.

Here are three keys to the victory.

1) The on-ice officials’ decision that a goal by Jets defenseman Adam Pardy at 15:43 of the second period should stand even though Jets forward Lee Stempniak impeded Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen from making the save. They huddled and concluded Stempniak had been pushed into Andersen by Ducks center Ryan Kesler. Tough but probably the right call.

2) The Ducks’ power play, so feeble during the regular season that it ranked 28th among 30 teams, is three for seven so far against the Jets. Patrick Maroon’s tying goal for the Ducks came while Winnipeg forward Andrew Ladd was in the penalty box.

3) Ducks right wing Jakob Silfverberg, who struggled offensively early this season, has shown a nice scoring touch when it counts. His goal with 21 seconds left in the third period was deftly placed, right under goalie Ondrej Pavelec’s arm.
