Baseball: Luke Williams hits two home runs, gets 8 RBI in Dana Hills victory

Shortstop Luke Williams, headed to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, had a game Wednesday that will fit in nicely for his bio when he gets to college. He hit two home runs and finished with a school-record eight RBI in Dana Hills’ 14-2 win over Eastvale Roosevelt.

In the Big VIII League, Corona improved to 5-0 with a 14-0 win over Corona Centennial. Seth Kaneen allowed no hits in four innings. Tristan Beck allowed one hit in three hits and struck out five.

Corona Santiago defeated Murrieta Mesa, 13-2. Brice Turang had three hits and five RBI. Ryan Williams went four for five.

In the Southwestern League, Hunter Tidwell had three hits and two RBI and Connor Cannon added three RBI in Vista Murrieta’s 15-7 win over Great Oak. Mitch Hayes had three hits and five RBI for Great Oak.

Ethan Butka threw three innings of relief to pick up the win in Aliso Niguel’s 4-3 victory over Placentia Valencia.

In the Foohill League, West Ranch defeated Canyon, 15-0. Phil Olivero hit a grand slam and finished with three hits. Valencia defeated Golden Valley, 18-2. Valencia had nine doubles among its 21 hits. Scott Ogrin and Devin Davis each hit home runs. Hart and Saugus finished in a 2-2 tie in the 13th inning.

Ayala defeated Claremont, 7-6. Matthew Acosta struck out four in three shutout innings to get the win.

Chris Murphy of Granada Hills struck out 14 in a 6-3 win over Central Union.

In Simi Valley’s 15-10 win over Brawley, Shea Barry hit a grand slam and Cal Hodgins contributed four hits.

In Atlanta, Harvard-Westlake won its third game of the tournament with a 15-8 win over Illinois Johnson Central. Jake Suddleson and Cameron Deere each had three hits and three RBI.

In Florida, South Hills advanced to the championship game of the IMG tournament with a 6-1 win over George Jenkins. Gavin Velasquez threw 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball.

In South Carolina, Narbonne advanced to the semifinals of the SC Mingo Bay tournament with a 4-3, nine-inning win over Virginia Forest Park. Jonathan Zaldivar had a game-tying RBI single during a three-run seventh. Daniel Rocha had the walk-off double in the ninth and finished with three hits.

Royal defeated Xavier, 9-3. Kurt Johnson got the victory. Freshman Jaden Fein had two hits. Cleveland defeated Campbell Hall, 8-1. Greg Conklin allowed six hits.

Placerville El Dorado defeated Sierra Canyon, 7-3. Jeremy Polon struck out 10 in El Camino Real’s 8-0 win over Montgomery. James Terrazas had two RBI. North Hollywood defeated Mt. Miguel, 3-2. Ryan Ruiz drove in two runs.

In Las Vegas, Chatsworth lost to Las Vegas Centennial, 11-5, in the Durango tournament final. Niko Switalla had a home run for the Chancellors. Earlier, Chasworth defeated Arbor View, 4-3. Andrew Renteria had two hits, including a home run. Sun Valley Poly finished 3-1 after a 7-4 win over Bakersfield Centennial.

Glendora defeated Nogales, 15-2. Nolan Collett led a 17-hit attack with three hits.

Nigel Ward and Michael Flynn combined on a one-hitter in Servite’s 6-0 win over Riverside Poly.

El Toro defeated Fullerton, 7-0. Josh Zamora, Gavin Garcia and Dillon Sherman each had two hits.

Hamilton defeated Locke, 11-0. Dalton Blumenfeld hit his sixth home run, a three-run shot.

Foothill knocked off Villa Park, 5-1, in the North Hills League behind Sebastian Lopez, who improved to 6-0. Luke Diradoorian had three hits and three RBI. El Dorado pulled out a 3-2 win over Esperanza in the 12th inning. Derek Reilly had the game-winning hit.

Etiwanda rallied from a 9-0 deficit to defeat Damien, 11-10, in a Baseline League game. Chad Plant allowed two hits in Upland’s 1-0 win over Chino Hills.

Matt Cassin had five RBI in Crespi’s 12-8 win over Vista Grande.

Kyle Robeniol had three hits in Los Osos’ 4-2 win over Rancho Cucamonga. He also struck out 12 in a complete-game pitching performance.

Birmingham defeated Mission Hills, 9-2. Ivan Lomeli and Alex Stellplue had two hits and two RBI. Taft defeated Mara Vista, 10-9.

Village Christian defeated Alhambra, 6-2. Jess Hanckel threw four shutout innings and Chris Davidson had two hits and two RBI.

Warren defeaed Peninsula, 2-1, in nine innings. Michael Hurtado struck out seven in a complete game. Steven Nuno had a walk-off double.

Santa Barbara lost to Rocklin, 5-3. Daniel McKinney hit his fourth home run of the season.

Chris Collins allowed one hit in six innings as Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated South Torrance, 10-0.

Santa Margarita defeated Bishop Amat, 5-1, at USC.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Poly knocked off Long Beach Millikan, 3-2, behind pitcher Josh Rios.

In the Del Rey League, Gardena Serra defeated La Salle, 9-8. Serra scored six runs in the seventh. Laurington Williams had the walk-off hit.

San Clemente defeated Laguna Hills, 8-2.
