Stephen Curry’s bomb inspires Justin Rose to PGA Tour win
Stephen Curry did more than help win an NBA playoff game with an amazing three-point shot from the corner last week.
He also helped golfer Justin Rose win the Zurich Classic in New Orleans over the weekend.
Rose said he took a break after the first round to watch Curry and the Golden State Warriors play the New Orleans Pelicans. He said that in the days that followed, as he fought to stay atop the leaderboard, his caddie, Mark “Fooch” Fulcher, kept reminding him of the long-range jumper that forced overtime and fueled a comeback victory for the Warriors.
“Fooch just said, ‘C’mon, remember Steph Curry,’” Rose told CBS Sports. “He went cold but he kept wanting the ball.”
Rose, who struggled at times during the tournament, made a series of clutch shots -- including birdies on the final two holes -- for the win.
“We’ve used that analogy,” he said. “That’s what great athletes you look up to do. In the big moments, they want the ball.”
The Englishman added one more thing about Curry: “I hear he’s a pretty good golfer too.”
