Boys’ basketball: Viewpoint’s Christian Juzang is point guard to watch

Viewpoint standout has lots of potential

The Gold Coast League is already home to Sierra Canyon, Windward and Brentwood in basketball, but don’t forget about Viewpoint, which has a talented junior guard in Christian Juzang and an underrated senior guard in Miye Oni.

On Saturday, Viewpoint defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Loyola in fall basketball games at La Salle.

Juzang, who’s being pursued by Pepperdine and Dartmouth, among others, has a chance to rise up just like former Flintridge Prep guard Robert Cartwright did. Cartwright ended up signing with Stanford.

He’s 6 feet 2, is a good passer, good driver and can hit open shots. He’ll get lets of opportunities to prove himself going against the likes of Aaron Holiday of Campbell Hall and Devearl Ramsey of Sierra Canyon in league play.

“The whole league is full of great guards,” Juzang said.

With continued improvement, Juzang and Viewpoint will be getting attention in 2014-15.
