TV ratings: ‘Big Bang Theory’ wins night; ‘The Voice’ drops

“The Big Bang Theory” continues to dominate Monday night TV ratings.

According to Nielsen, the CBS sitcom won the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic with a rating of 4.4. It also topped the night overall, averaging 15.6-million viewers.

The network’s season premiere of “The Millers” didn’t fare as well. The show, which earned a 2.2 in the key demo, was down 33% from last fall’s series premiere. It averaged 9.1-million viewers.

Also on CBS, “Scorpion” stayed even with last week with a rating of 2.4 in the key demo. The show was fourth most watched overall with about 10.5-million viewers.

“NCIS:Los Angeles” grew slightly, posting a rating of 1.7 in the key demo.

The network was second most watched in the key demo with a rating of 2.5. It averaged 10.5-million viewers.

NBC won the key demo with a rating of 3.0. However, both shows in the network’s Monday night lineup were down from last week.

Though “The Voice” was second most watched in the key demo, it dropped 18% from last week with a rating of 3.3. The singing competition was third most watched overall with about 11.6-million viewers.

“The Blacklist” earned a rating of 2.4 in the key demo, a 14% decrease from last week. The show rounded out the top five most-watched programs overall with about 9.4-million viewers.

On ABC, “Dancing with the Stars” was the No. 2 most-watched program of the night overall, averaging 12.7-million viewers. With a rating of 2.0 in the key demo, the dancing competition stayed even with last week.

“Castle” averaged 9.3-million viewers and a rating of 1.6 in the key demo.

Both shows helped elevate the network to No. 1 most watched overall with about 11.6-million viewers.

Meanwhile, on The CW, “Jane the Virgin” grew one tenth from last week’s premiere with a rating of 0.7 in the key demo.

The series, which averaged 1.75-million viewers, is based on Venezuela’s telenovela “Juana la virgen.” It stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane, a hardworking young woman who is accidentally artificially inseminated during a routine gynecologic exam.

Due to local NFL pre-emptions on ABC in Pittsburgh and The CW in Houston, ratings for those networks are inflated.

Fox’s “Gotham,” which was given a full-season order last week, was down 8% with a rating of 2.2. in the key demo. The show averaged about 6-million viewers. It tied for fifth in the key demo with “The Millers.”

“Sleepy Hollow” was up 6% from last week with a rating of 1.8 in the key demo. With about 5-million viewers, the show rounded out the top 10 most-watched programs overall.
