Football: Chaminade is wary of No. 4 for Alemany

In a phone interview, Chaminade Coach Ed Croson kept talking about No. 4 for Alemany.

“No. 4 is somebody you don’t hear much about, but when you look at him on film, he might be their best guy,” Croson said.

No. 4 is senior receiver Brandon Pierce, who gets lots of opportunities while opponents focus on USC commit Desean Holmes.

It’s one of the challenges Chaminade (5-0) will face against Alemany (4-0) on Thursday night in a critical Mission League game.

Both teams have powerful offenses, and it’s going to come down to which team can make a few stops on defense.

Alemany can run and pass with Blake Green, Dominic Davis and its receivers. Chaminade can run and pass with Ed Sias, running backs Okalani Langi and TJ Pledger and receivers Brandon Lee and Dymond Lee. One wrinkle that the Eagles can pull out is moving Dymond Lee to quarterback at times. His running ability could create problems for Alemany.

Alemany’s offensive and defensive lines are much improved from a year ago. Chaminade has the best lineman on the field in Bar Milo.

It figures to be one of the best games of the season at Alemany. It’s a 7 p.m. start.

And watch out for No. 4.
