Madonna issues six new songs, album pre-sale after leak

Thought Madonna was just going to let a massive leak slide without taking action? Wrong.

After more than a dozen tracks supposedly from her forthcoming album suddenly popped up online earlier this week, the pop diva fired back with her own surprise and rolled out album details along with new music – and lots of it.

Late Friday a pre-order link for the new album popped up on iTunes. Titled “Rebel Heart” (not “Iconic,” as reported with the leak), the 19-track album is set to arrive March 10.

Even more, Madonna is offering a ton of new music with the album’s announcement. Six songs are available for individual purchase, and come as instant grats for those who pre-order. The tracks are also up on streaming services like Spotify.

Among the songs the singer released are “Living For Love,” “Devil Pray,” “Ghosttown,” “Unapologetic Bitch,” “Illuminati” and “Bitch I’m Madonna,” which features Nicki Minaj. Additional music from the album will be released on Feb. 9.

In a statement, Madonna said her original plan was to issue the album’s first single, “Living For Love,” on Valentine’s Day with the album arriving in spring. Due to the leak she wanted fans to have the finished versions of the music.

“I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating,” she said in a statement. “Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift.”

“Rebel Heart” includes production from Diplo, Kanye West, Billboard and the singer.

Earlier this week 13 tracks from the singer were leaked online in an incident that she called “a form of terrorism.” Unfinished versions of the album’s lead single, its title track and a few more from Friday’s surprise release were part of the massive leak.

“This is artistic rape!! These are early leaked demos, half of which won’t even make it on my album. The other half have changed and evolved,” she posted on Instagram after the leak. “Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?”

“Rebel Heart” serves as a follow-up to 2012’s “MDNA.” Madonna is also prepping a world tour that will coincide with the release and mark the 30th anniversary of her debut trek, 1985’s Virgin Tour.
