Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Coalinga

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Friday morning six miles from Coalinga, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:32 a.m. PDT at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 19 miles from Avenal, 32 miles from Lemoore, and 36 miles from Mendota.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
